DESCRIPTION:Checking In? Bethlehem’s Alluring Accommodations Exhibit is Now Open! \nThis experience transports guests back nearly three hundred years to various hospitality sites in downtown Bethlehem. This multi-site experience ventures to the Moravian Museum of Bethlehem and the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts. Guests will visit sites such as the fictional Moravian Inn\, a reconstruction of the Eagle Hotel\, and the Sun Inn. Along the way\, guests will learn all about the various visitors of Bethlehem\, the importance of hospitality to Bethlehem’s history\, and the roots of these hotels in shaping the United States.  \nThis exhibit offers two ticketing options\, one of which includes a Christmas City Spirits tasting experience and a complimentary tasting glass with a recipe at the conclusion of the tour at the Sun Inn.  \nThe Kemerer Museum and Moravian Museum are open Friday through Sunday\, 11 AM – 5 PM. DESCRIPTION:The Ballet Guild’s Summer Dance Program will be held from June 24 through August 2 and includes day classes for the serious pre-professional dancer as well as age-appropriate classes for children and adults. Our classes emphasize the development of ballet skills\, with a focus on knowledge\, proper placement\, and alignment. Students are encouraged to build confidence through accomplishments in dance. \nThe Pre-Professional Division (Monday through Friday days) is designed for the serious dancer ages 9 and up with dance experience and includes ballet\, pointe (where appropriate)\, tap\, Progressing Ballet Technique\, and much more! The Community Division with late afternoon and evening classes offers Pre-Ballet for ages 3 and 4; Youth Ballet for ages 5-12; Adult/Teen Ballet and Pointe for ages 13 & up; Adult/Teen Beginning Ballet; and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) for adults/teens! DESCRIPTION:Artist Tim Higgins will be exhibiting his digital collage works\, “Please Stand By”\, at the Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery from July 3 to August 13\, 2024. There will be an opening reception on Sunday\, July 14 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church Street. Gallery hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. \nThe exhibition is composed of hundreds of collaged images and elements depicting themes from comics\, pulp fiction\, television\, film and everyday life. High Art meets Low Art as Higgins creates new works from material either originally sourced or appropriated from a variety of sources and media. The works are either printed on paper and framed or mounted on glass. \nTim Higgins is a multi-disciplinary artist who has worked in graphics\, painting and short film. He grew up in Allentown\, attended Salisbury High School\, and studied commercial art at Northampton County Community College and fine arts with a concentration in painting at Kutztown University. Higgins has also been a newspaper editor and reporter in the Lehigh Valley as well as a freelance arts writer.

Pond\, on whistling for the 4th\, 1876 \nCelebrate the 4th as factories\, railroads\, and ships have\, by sounding whistles and horns.  This special event will begin with a presentation by Brian Ferrence at 11 AM on the history of whistles used on steam locomotives.  At noon\, we will use compressed air to blow a variety of whistles and horns\, each taking its turn so their unique sounds can be recorded. \nDo you own a whistle or air horn that you would like to hear?  If so\, bring it in\, and if it passes a safety review\, we will do our best to pipe it in.  There are many such devices that were salvaged from old locomotives\, mines\, and mills\, that have not been heard in decades.  Let’s hear them now. \nAll activities included with Museum admission. \nEarplugs will be for sale.

SUMMARY:Bethlehem Steel Locomotive Experience
DESCRIPTION:The National Museum of Industrial History is excited to offer a hands-on train engineer experience on its restored narrow gauge locomotive! Situated in the museum’s park area\, the 1941 Whitcomb diesel-electric locomotive was used at Bethlehem Steel in the Electric Furnace Melt Shop where it moved trains of scrap metal. Restored by museum volunteers and staff to working condition\, the train operates on a little over 100 feet of demonstration track. During this educational experience participants will be able to climb into the cab\, learn how the locomotive works\, then take the controls under the supervision of museum personnel. The short but memorable runs will let you step back in time\, putting you in the same engineer’s seat as the steelworkers who helped build the country.\nEach experience is limited to two adults or one adult and one child. Each session lasts approximately 20 minutes and is weather-dependent. SUMMARY:Teen Acting Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Amanda Lissette is happy to be back at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts)  to host an improvisation and movement workshop this summer. Students will be using improvisation exercises to sharpen skills\, increase creativity\, emphasize the need to embrace the ideas of others\, and handle uncertainty\, with or without a partner on stage\, in an inventive way. With movement exercises\, they will work to use their body to create the world of characters and how they move through it\, telling a story using only physical movement.  These skills will benefit the young actor’s ability to think on their feet creatively\, master cold reads for auditions and/or callbacks\, and bring bold choices to the projects they work on. The week will culminate with a short showcase for parents/guardians. SUMMARY:Bethlehem Steel Locomotive Experience
DESCRIPTION:The National Museum of Industrial History is excited to offer a hands-on train engineer experience on its restored narrow gauge locomotive! Situated in the museum’s park area\, the 1941 Whitcomb diesel-electric locomotive was used at Bethlehem Steel in the Electric Furnace Melt Shop where it moved trains of scrap metal. Restored by museum volunteers and staff to working condition\, the train operates on a little over 100 feet of demonstration track. During this educational experience participants will be able to climb into the cab\, learn how the locomotive works\, then take the controls under the supervision of museum personnel. The short but memorable runs will let you step back in time\, putting you in the same engineer’s seat as the steelworkers who helped build the country.\nEach experience is limited to two adults or one adult and one child. Each session lasts approximately 20 minutes and is weather-dependent. SUMMARY:Chapel & Church Sanctuary Tours
DESCRIPTION: The 1751 Old Chapel will be open every Friday from 12 – 1 p.m. with a Moravian Daily Text reading at 12:15 p.m.   This short daily devotion has been a part of Moravian tradition since 1731.\nGuests will be welcomed to visit and learn more about the 1751 Old Chapel\, where George Washington and Benjamin Franklin worshipped and which welcomed local Native Americans as well as German settlers in its early history.  The Chapel is still used for Sunday worship\, memorial services\, weddings and other church events.\n\nSaturdays\, July 24 and 31 and August 3\, Sunday\, August 4th\, and Saturday Aug. 10\, and Sunday Aug. 11\, 2 – 4 p.m. Sanctuary tours and Free gift for all visitors!  \nThe Church Sanctuary\, built from 1803-1806\, is open for guided tours\, each half hour from 2 – 4 p.m.    Guests will be welcomed to take this 45 minute tour of the sanctuary learning more not only about its architectural design\, history of music and worship\, but also the living ministries of Central Moravian Church today.  Unique places like the 2nd floor Kleiner Saal will be included on this tour.   A suggested donation of $5/person.   A gift shop with many unique Moravian items\, as well as books and other gifts will be open.  (During Musikfest\, our Gift shop will offer a free Moravian themed gift for all visitors) Guests should enter on the Northeast side of the church\, the door accessible to the church green and Heckewelder Place (closest to Moravian Book store).\n\nOutside of our regular hours\, guided tours of the Sanctuary and Old Chapel can also be arranged by contacting the Rev. Josh Follweiler\, Associate Pastor at 610-866-5661 (x.201) A suggested donation of $5/person is requested for these tours.   They can be arranged subject to a tour guide and the church’s availability.
