SUMMARY:Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery\, Frank "Wyso" Wysochansky\, paintings\, Christmas in Bethlehem
DESCRIPTION:Northeastern Pennsylvania artist\, Frank “Wyso” Wysochansky’s art work will be exhibited at the Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery from November 9 to December 19\, 2025.  Titled “Christmas in Bethlehem” this exhibition of  the posthumous artist\, known as “Wyso”\, is curated by Steven J. Lichak.  There will be an opening reception on Sunday\, November 9\, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM\, with an artist talk at 3:00 PM.  The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church Street.  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. \nFrank “Wyso” Wysochansky (1915–1994) was self-taught\, fiercely prolific\, and unapologetically human.  From the coal fields of Pennsylvania to the walls of American galleries\, Frank Wysochansky—known simply as WYSO®—created a body of work that speaks to the grit\, faith\, and resilience of the working class. Born to Ukrainian immigrants and one of twelve children\, Wyso’s life was steeped in the struggles of miners and their families. When his father was killed in a mining accident\, that experience seared into his soul—and into his art. \nWyso left school after the seventh grade and began a long career as a freelance cartoonist\, most notably for the United Mine Workers Journal (1946–1969). But his artistic expression didn’t stop with ink. Using everything from watercolor\, pen and ink and Crayola crayons\, he developed a vibrant\, multi-media style that captured everyday life with raw emotion and uncanny vision. \n  \nWyso’s subjects reflect his roots: miners\, immigrant families\, religious devotion\, and the Pennsylvania landscape. But his voice was always universal—a storyteller of the common man\, capturing the soul of America through the eyes of those too often overlooked. Today\, WYSO®’s legacy lives on through exhibitions\, media features\, and the work of the WYSO® Foundation in Bethlehem\, PA. \nThis exhibition is curated by Steven J. Lichak who is a media professional and cultural preservationist dedicated to storytelling through both technology and the arts. At Lehigh University\, he serves as Senior Producer within The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning and the Digital Media Team\, where he creates educational media and mentors the next generation of filmmakers and content creators. \nLichak is also the founding president and curator of the WYSO® Foundation\, established to preserve and share the work of Frank Wysochansky (WYSO®)\, the self-taught artist from Pennsylvania who produced more than 5\,000 works. A personal friend of the artist\, Lichak undertook the cataloging of Wyso’s collection after his death in 1994. Thanks to his efforts\, Wyso’s once-hidden body of work has been brought into public view\, gaining exhibitions and national recognition as a vital contribution to American folk art. Through his media work\, teaching\, and curatorial projects\, Lichak continues to bridge education\, creativity\, and cultural heritage.

SUMMARY:Christmas Putz & Star & Candle Shoppe
DESCRIPTION:at \n \n \n\nThe holiday shopping season is upon us\, and the Moravian History Store has something for everyone on your list! This year\, the History Store is once again partnering with Central Moravian Church to manage the Star and Candle Shoppe. Browse a dazzling array of holiday treasures\, including\, authentic Herrnhuter Moravian Stars\, handcrafted ornaments and holiday décor\, beautiful Moravian star jewelry\, and themed glassware\, tumblers\, and more. \nSince 1937\, Central Moravian has been offering a Community Putz for the City of Bethlehem. Like a crèche\, a putz tells the story of Jesus’ birth with carved figures.  A cherished tradition\, the Putz (from the German word putzen\, meaning “to decorate”) retells the wonderful story of Christ’s birth through narration and music\, while tiny lights illuminate each miniature scene. The figures\, many of them antiques of German origin\, are nestled amidst live moss\, driftwood and rocks. The practice of putz building is uniquely Moravian. Bethlehem’s first settlers brought their putz figures with them in the 18th century. In Victorian days\, it was the custom in Bethlehem for Moravians to “go putzing” during the week between Christmas Eve and New Year’s\, enjoying others’ putzes.\nPutz & Star & Candle Shoppe Hours: Thursdays and Fridays: 1 – 7 p.m.\, Saturdays: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.\, Sundays: 1 – 5 p.m.\,\nAfter Christmas\, open daily 1 – 5 p.m. \n\n\n\n\n\n \n Add to calendar \n\n\n\n \n Google Calendar \n \n\n \n iCalendar \n \n\n \n Outlook 365 \n \n\n \n Outlook Live \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n\n\n Details\n	\n\n\n Date:\n \n \n \n \n\n Time:

SUMMARY:A Stir of Creativity: Dance Soup serves up a Vibrant Blend of Student Choreography
DESCRIPTION:Warm Up with some Dance Soup!\nA Stir of Creativity: Dance Soup concert at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts Serves up a Vibrant Blend of Student Choreography\nDance Soup has become a cherished annual fall tradition at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts)\, celebrating the artistry and innovation of student choreographers. Under the direction of Rebecca Moyer and Jennifer Weaver\, this year’s concert offers a dynamic blend of senior solos and ensemble works\, featuring a wide range of styles-from modern and contemporary to jazz and ballet.\n“The program truly reflects the individuality of our dancers\,” says Weaver. “Audiences can look forward to a performance that’s rich in variety-each piece tells a different story\, yet together they create an exciting and cohesive evening of dance.”\nThe concert serves as a capstone for students enrolled in the Creative Process for the dancer course\, providing an opportunity to apply their classroom learning to a live performance setting. Many students begin conceptualizing their choreography over the summer\, refining ideas and submitting proposals for faculty feedback in the fall. The creative process involves auditioning peers\, leading rehearsals\, and working closely with mentors to shape and polish their final pieces.\n“This experience pushes students to take on multiple roles-artist\, collaborator\, and leader\,” Moyer explains. “They not only refine their technical and creative voices but also learn how to communicate vision and direction to others.”\nWeaver adds\, “Throughout the process\, we encourage constructive feedback and experimentation. It’s exciting to see how students take risks\, explore new movement vocabularies\, and ultimately find their own choreographic identities.”\nAs for the show’s distinctive name\, Weaver explains. “Like a great soup\, this concert is made up of many ingredients-different styles\, perspectives\, and ideas-all coming together to create something warm\, flavorful\, and deeply satisfying for everyone involved.”\nEvening performances Nov. 21 & 22 at 7 PM. Matinee performance Nov. 22 at 2 PM. Tickets are $8-$14 and available at CharterArts.org.\nABOUT THE LEHIGH VALLEY CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS (Charter Arts):\nCharter Arts is an audition-based public charter school\, funded by Pennsylvania taxpayer dollars\, that provides a comprehensive curriculum for high school students\, grades 9-12\, who have a dedicated passion for the creative or performing arts.   Students major in one of seven artistic areas: Dance\, Instrumental Music\, Literary Arts\, Production Arts\, Theatre\, Visual Arts\, or Vocal Music.\nCharter Arts’ rigorous curriculum fosters both academic and artistic excellence for its students. SUMMARY:Bethlehem Steel Flashlight Tours
DESCRIPTION:Join us during First Fridays for Bethlehem Steel Flashlight Tours!\nMany places in the massive Bethlehem Steel plant were 24/7 operations.  Although some areas glowed with molten metal after sunset\, other locations were dark\, illuminated only when workers with company issued flashlights navigated the maze-like facilities.  Now guests can participate in a guided tour of the plant after dark\, utilizing flashlights to experience the former steel mill by spotlighting specific features and peering into areas otherwise in the shadows during the day.  The tours will leave from the Museum\, walk the Hoover-Mason trestle\, look at the east side of the blast furnace complex from the ground\, and return to the Museum at street level\, all while using flashlights to focus on details and stories from “The Steel.”\nPlease bring your own flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes. Participants will be required to sign a waiver at check in.  This tour happens entirely in public spaces\, but in the dark\, with uneven surfaces and limited visibility.  It is not a haunted/ghost tour\, but some visitors may be uncomfortable with the lack of light\, strange noises\, and heights (46 feet). In the case of inclement weather (including rain\, snow/ice\, heavy winds\, lightning)\, please check the museum website and WFMZ storm center for cancellations.\nTour Schedule\nMay 2\, 2025 @7:45PM\nJune 6\, 2025 @8:30PM *\nSeptember 5\, 2025 @7:45PM\nOctober 3\, 2025 @7:45PM\nNovember 7\, 2025 @7:45PM\nDecember 5\, 2025 @7:45PM\n$15/person ($12.50 for NMIH Members)\nPurchase tickets HERE.
