DESCRIPTION:Northeastern Pennsylvania artist\, Frank “Wyso” Wysochansky’s art work will be exhibited at the Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery from November 9 to December 19\, 2025.  Titled “Christmas in Bethlehem” this exhibition of  the posthumous artist\, known as “Wyso”\, is curated by Steven J. Lichak.  There will be an opening reception on Sunday\, November 9\, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM\, with an artist talk at 3:00 PM.  The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church Street.  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. \nFrank “Wyso” Wysochansky (1915–1994) was self-taught\, fiercely prolific\, and unapologetically human.  From the coal fields of Pennsylvania to the walls of American galleries\, Frank Wysochansky—known simply as WYSO®—created a body of work that speaks to the grit\, faith\, and resilience of the working class. Born to Ukrainian immigrants and one of twelve children\, Wyso’s life was steeped in the struggles of miners and their families. When his father was killed in a mining accident\, that experience seared into his soul—and into his art. \nWyso left school after the seventh grade and began a long career as a freelance cartoonist\, most notably for the United Mine Workers Journal (1946–1969). But his artistic expression didn’t stop with ink. Using everything from watercolor\, pen and ink and Crayola crayons\, he developed a vibrant\, multi-media style that captured everyday life with raw emotion and uncanny vision. \n  \nWyso’s subjects reflect his roots: miners\, immigrant families\, religious devotion\, and the Pennsylvania landscape. But his voice was always universal—a storyteller of the common man\, capturing the soul of America through the eyes of those too often overlooked. Today\, WYSO®’s legacy lives on through exhibitions\, media features\, and the work of the WYSO® Foundation in Bethlehem\, PA. \nThis exhibition is curated by Steven J. Lichak who is a media professional and cultural preservationist dedicated to storytelling through both technology and the arts. At Lehigh University\, he serves as Senior Producer within The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning and the Digital Media Team\, where he creates educational media and mentors the next generation of filmmakers and content creators. \nLichak is also the founding president and curator of the WYSO® Foundation\, established to preserve and share the work of Frank Wysochansky (WYSO®)\, the self-taught artist from Pennsylvania who produced more than 5\,000 works. A personal friend of the artist\, Lichak undertook the cataloging of Wyso’s collection after his death in 1994. Thanks to his efforts\, Wyso’s once-hidden body of work has been brought into public view\, gaining exhibitions and national recognition as a vital contribution to American folk art. Through his media work\, teaching\, and curatorial projects\, Lichak continues to bridge education\, creativity\, and cultural heritage.

DESCRIPTION:The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) Theatre Department continues its season of mystery and mayhem with a production of Witches!? In Salem?!\, an innovative new play by Matt Cox\, November 12-16\, 2025 in the Charter Arts Black Box Theater. This darkly comic\, yet historically grounded take on the Salem Witch Trials is told through the eyes of an imaginative 8th grader who becomes consumed by a lesson on The Crucible. \nFor this production\, the department welcomes guest director\, Chris Egging\, to lead an exceptional student cast through a spellbinding whirlwind of humor\, hysteria and history\, where the lines between past and present blur revealing the timeless power of fear\, rumor and belief. \nProducer\, Diane Wagner describes the department’s enthusiasm in selecting this piece. “We’re always on the lookout for new works that will be of interest to our students. When we came across Witches!? In Salem?! it immediately resonated with the faculty. The connections to American history\, The Crucible\, and the ensemble nature of the production seemed a perfect fit for us. \nWagner adds:  “Matt Cox uses actual facts about the Salem Witch Trials which over time have been inextricably connected to Arthur Miller’s play\, and turned it on its head by framing it as a live presentation commandeered by an 8th grader. DESCRIPTION:The 1751 Old Chapel will be open each Friday and Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Learn about the Moravian Daily Textbook\, a short daily devotion that has been a part of Moravian tradition since 1731.  Guests will be welcomed to visit and learn more about the 1751 Old Chapel\, where George Washington and Benjamin Franklin worshipped and which welcomed local Native Americans as well as German settlers in its early history. The Chapel is still used for Sunday worship\, memorial services\, weddings and other church events. Dates subject to change in the event of a church function. Please check website. \n \nThe Church Sanctuary\, built from 1803-1806\, is open for guided tours from 2 – 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Guests will be welcomed to take this 45-minute tour of the sanctuary learning more not only about its architectural design\, history of music and worship\, but also the living ministries of Central Moravian Church today. Unique places like the 2nd floor Kleiner Saal will be included on this tour. A suggested donation of $5/person. A gift shop with many unique Moravian items\, as well as books and other gifts will be open. \n \nGuests should enter on the Northeast side of the church\, the door accessible to the church green and Heckewelder Place (closest to Moravian Book store). \nGuided tours of the Sanctuary and Old Chapel can also be arranged by contacting the church office at 610-866-5661. suggested donation of $5/person is requested for these tours.
