SUMMARY:Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery\, Frank "Wyso" Wysochansky\, paintings\, Christmas in Bethlehem
DESCRIPTION:Northeastern Pennsylvania artist\, Frank “Wyso” Wysochansky’s art work will be exhibited at the Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery from November 9 to December 19\, 2025.  Titled “Christmas in Bethlehem” this exhibition of  the posthumous artist\, known as “Wyso”\, is curated by Steven J. Lichak.  There will be an opening reception on Sunday\, November 9\, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM\, with an artist talk at 3:00 PM.  The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church Street.  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. \nFrank “Wyso” Wysochansky (1915–1994) was self-taught\, fiercely prolific\, and unapologetically human.  From the coal fields of Pennsylvania to the walls of American galleries\, Frank Wysochansky—known simply as WYSO®—created a body of work that speaks to the grit\, faith\, and resilience of the working class. Born to Ukrainian immigrants and one of twelve children\, Wyso’s life was steeped in the struggles of miners and their families. When his father was killed in a mining accident\, that experience seared into his soul—and into his art. \nWyso left school after the seventh grade and began a long career as a freelance cartoonist\, most notably for the United Mine Workers Journal (1946–1969). But his artistic expression didn’t stop with ink. Using everything from watercolor\, pen and ink and Crayola crayons\, he developed a vibrant\, multi-media style that captured everyday life with raw emotion and uncanny vision. \n  \nWyso’s subjects reflect his roots: miners\, immigrant families\, religious devotion\, and the Pennsylvania landscape. But his voice was always universal—a storyteller of the common man\, capturing the soul of America through the eyes of those too often overlooked. Today\, WYSO®’s legacy lives on through exhibitions\, media features\, and the work of the WYSO® Foundation in Bethlehem\, PA. \nThis exhibition is curated by Steven J. Lichak who is a media professional and cultural preservationist dedicated to storytelling through both technology and the arts. At Lehigh University\, he serves as Senior Producer within The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning and the Digital Media Team\, where he creates educational media and mentors the next generation of filmmakers and content creators. \nLichak is also the founding president and curator of the WYSO® Foundation\, established to preserve and share the work of Frank Wysochansky (WYSO®)\, the self-taught artist from Pennsylvania who produced more than 5\,000 works. A personal friend of the artist\, Lichak undertook the cataloging of Wyso’s collection after his death in 1994. Thanks to his efforts\, Wyso’s once-hidden body of work has been brought into public view\, gaining exhibitions and national recognition as a vital contribution to American folk art. Through his media work\, teaching\, and curatorial projects\, Lichak continues to bridge education\, creativity\, and cultural heritage.

SUMMARY:THEATRE: "Witches!? In Salem?!" by Matt Cox
DESCRIPTION:The Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) Theatre Department continues its season of mystery and mayhem with a production of Witches!? In Salem?!\, an innovative new play by Matt Cox\, November 12-16\, 2025 in the Charter Arts Black Box Theater. This darkly comic\, yet historically grounded take on the Salem Witch Trials is told through the eyes of an imaginative 8th grader who becomes consumed by a lesson on The Crucible. \nFor this production\, the department welcomes guest director\, Chris Egging\, to lead an exceptional student cast through a spellbinding whirlwind of humor\, hysteria and history\, where the lines between past and present blur revealing the timeless power of fear\, rumor and belief. \nProducer\, Diane Wagner describes the department’s enthusiasm in selecting this piece. “We’re always on the lookout for new works that will be of interest to our students. When we came across Witches!? In Salem?! it immediately resonated with the faculty. The connections to American history\, The Crucible\, and the ensemble nature of the production seemed a perfect fit for us. \nWagner adds:  “Matt Cox uses actual facts about the Salem Witch Trials which over time have been inextricably connected to Arthur Miller’s play\, and turned it on its head by framing it as a live presentation commandeered by an 8th grader. The show is sometimes zany\, sometimes disturbing because of the nature of what actually happened\, and at all times entertaining. If this is a topic that interests you\, you won’t want to miss Witches!? In Salem?!.” \nTickets are $8-$14 General Admission and can be purchased online at CharterArts.org.  Witches!? In Salem?! is presented by special arrangement with Uproar Theatrics (www.Uproar Theatrics.com). \nABOUT THE CHARTER ARTS THEATRE DEPARTMENT:\nThe Charter Arts Theatre Department offers a pre-professional training program for high school-aged performers. The goal is to provide students with the skills they will need to move on to competitive college programs as well as professional theatre experiences.\nClasses are designed to encourage students to create imaginative and compelling characters\, to regard their voices and bodies as creative instruments\, to expose them to theatrical literature and to instill in them a sense of respect and professionalism for the art form that will stay with them throughout their lives.\nABOUT THE LEHIGH VALLEY CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS (Charter Arts): \nCharter Arts is an audition-based public charter school\, funded by Pennsylvania taxpayer dollars\, that provides a comprehensive curriculum for high school students\, grades 9-12\, who have a dedicated passion for the creative or performing arts.   Students major in one of seven artistic areas: Dance\, Instrumental Music\, Literary Arts\, Production Arts (film & technical theatre)\, Theatre\, Visual Arts\, or Vocal Music.  \nCharter Arts’ rigorous curriculum fosters both academic and artistic excellence for its students. The school’s impressive Advanced Placement (AP) exam statistics\, Keystone Exam statistics\, SAT scores\, prestigious artistic accolades\, and graduation rate\, are testaments to the outstanding education that Charter Arts provides.\nAn award-winning\, nationally recognized institution\, Charter Arts is ranked #1 Best Charter High School in PA and  #1 Best Public High School Teachers in PA on Niche’s 2026 Best Schools in America Rankings. The school also placed among the Top 10 Charter Schools in PA on U.S. News & World Report’s 2025-26 Best Schools Rankings.\nProspective students and families who are interested in learning more about the theatre program and the school are encouraged to attend the school’s Open House event on December 6th or request a tour. Visit charterarts.org for more information.\nCharter Arts has been part of the Bethlehem community since its inception in 2003\, and for the past decade\, has been proudly rooted in the heart of Bethlehem’s Southside Arts District at 321 East 3rd Street.
