SUMMARY:Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery\, Will Hübscher photographs\, The Flowers Will Never Die
DESCRIPTION:Lehigh Valley photographer\, Will Hübscher\, will be exhibiting his floral photographs.  The show entitled “The Flowers Will Never Die”\, will be on display at the Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery from September 29 to November 4\, 2025.  There will be an opening reception on Sunday\, October 5\, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM\, with an artist talk at 3:00 PM.  The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church Street.  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. \n“I find the old\, the broken\, the forgotten\, the decaying process of nature to be the most interesting and the most beautiful of nature’s lifecycle.  Perhaps a flower’s bloom is not nature at its finest\, for there is also beauty in its decay as well. There is splendor within the flower’s wilting blooms\, within the seeds\, pods\, and leaves all in their unique stages of decomposition. Without the decay of one year\, there would be no fresh beauty in the next.  Flowers are nature’s way of expressing beauty and grace. They come in a myriad of colors\, shapes\, and sizes\, each with its own unique charm. Flowers not only delight our senses with their vibrant hues and delicate fragrances\, but they also play a vital role in ecosystems as pollinators and providers of nectar. From the romantic allure of roses to the cheerful petals of sunflowers\, flowers have long been admired and cherished by cultures around the world. They symbolize love\, friendship\, and new beginnings. Whether they are found in a garden\, a bouquet\, or a wild meadow\, flowers never fail to bring joy and a sense of wonder to our lives.” \nWill has no formal art or photographic education or training\, his artistic endeavors actually began later in life\, during the celebratory Millennium year. Being diagnosed and treated for cancer\, becoming suddenly single during treatment\, moving into a 100-year-old farmhouse and living alone for the first time in his life\, and then being laid off from his job\, gave him an unexpected realization of his own self. During a particularly low day of self-introspection and pity came a knock at the door. And there were his best friends\, Wally Barnette and his husband Andy who was carrying a table-top etching press. Wally said\, “It is time to do something with your life.” And so began his artistic journey that has taken many different directions but still continues to this day.  He has always looked at the world around him differently than most of his contemporaries\, but this was the first time he was challenged to actually interpret it in a visual format. \nAfter seeing a mandala created and then destroyed\, he envisioned creating still life’s using mostly objects from nature\, photographing the pieces\, then returning the pieces back to the land. Each still life is carefully arranged in natural sunlight\, using rotting boards and rusting metals as a backdrop\, then photographing\, rearranging\, and photographing again many times until just the right essence of nature’s character is captured. And then it is sent back to the earth to feed the insects\, birds and next year’s growth. This is how his series of photographs “Beautiful Decay” and “Blooms on Black” were created. \nWill’s artwork has been in shows and galleries from New York to Los Angeles\, including solo exhibitions at both Lafayette College and Penn State University\, as well as taking 2 nd place out of 1\,800 artists in Juxtapose magazine’s worldwide competition.  His  monotypes are in the permanent collection of City Center Allentown Corporation. He also had the great honor of being the inaugural artist at the grand opening of the Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center. \nThe exhibition is sponsored by the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission (www.bfac-lv.org) and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

SUMMARY:Lehigh University Department of Theatre: Passage
DESCRIPTION:By Christopher Chen\nA searing and timely exploration of colonialism\, power\, and the invisible walls that divide us. Passage is a gripping modern-day allegory that speaks directly to our current moment-challenging us to reflect on systems of oppression and the struggle to connect across differences.
