SUMMARY:Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery\, LAA Members Invitational Exhibition\, "Thoroughly Modern"
DESCRIPTION:The Lehigh Art Alliance will be exhibiting their Members Invitational Exhibition “Thoroughly Modern” at the Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery from July 7 to August 12\, 2025.  This exhibition showcases 16 contemporary artists from the Lehigh Art Alliance who challenge tradition through diverse materials\, bold ideas\, and boundary-pushing approaches. From abstract compositions and conceptual explorations to works engaging with social\, political\, or deeply personal themes\, the show reflects the expansive nature of art today. These artists embrace experimentation\, multicultural perspectives\, and the power of visual language to question\, connect\, and provoke. Thoroughly Modern invites viewers to experience the present moment through art that is as varied and vibrant as the world around us. \n There will be an artists reception on Sunday\, July 13 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.  The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church Street.  Gallery hours are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. \nFounded by Professor Garth Howland of Lehigh University\, LAA has deep roots in the community as an organization for amateur and professional artists. Historically\, the mission of the Lehigh Art Alliance has been to enrich the Lehigh Valley through the support of artists in their creative endeavors and to provide exhibition and educational opportunities to our members and surrounding community. \nThe exhibition is sponsored by the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission (www.bfac-lv.org) and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

SUMMARY:Workshop for Teens: Comic Book Storytelling (Some Illustration too!)
DESCRIPTION:Calling all Super-Fans! If you love graphic novels or comic books\, you will enjoy the character creation and strange new world-building that are at the heart of this Summer Academy workshop at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts.  The workshop is taught by Literary Arts teacher and graphic novelist Scott Beatty\, who has authored hundreds of adventures for many of comics’ most iconic characters including Batman and Robin tales for DC Comics\, as well as The Phantom\, Buck Rogers\, and Sherlock Holmes for Dynamite Entertainment. Beatty has also contributed comic book stories to IDW Publishing\, Dark Horse Comics\, and Crossgen Comics.  You’ll learn about the history of comic books\, how graphic novels are produced\, and then you’ll create the secret origin of your own character and chronicle their first adventure in script and art! Students will get to showcase their creations during a short ‘talk-back’ session\, pitching their work just like comics pros\, with parents and families on the final day of class!  This year’s session will also include some illustration instruction. Open to ages 12-17.  Session runs July 14-18\, 9 AM-12 PM Daily.\nThis workshop is part of the school’s Summer Academy\, a program of arts enrichment workshops for kids and teens that is open to the community.  The program operates as a fundraiser for the school.\nFor more information  and registration details\, visit CharterArts.org or Call 610-868-2971 Ext. 3185.

SUMMARY:Acting Intensive for TEEN ACTORS
DESCRIPTION:Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) brings back alum\, Amanda Lissette for this dynamic teen acting intensive workshop!  Participants will be using improvisation exercises to sharpen skills\, increase creativity\, emphasize the need to embrace the ideas of others\, and handle uncertainty\, with or without a partner on stage\, in an inventive way. With movement exercises\, they will work to use their body to create the world of characters and how they move through it\, telling a story using only physical movement. These skills will benefit the young actor’s ability to think on their feet creatively\, master cold reads for auditions and/or callbacks\, and bring bold choices to the projects they work on. The week will culminate with a short showcase for parents/guardians.  Open to children entering 7th-9th grades (older students may also be considered)\nThis workshop is part of the school’s Summer Academy\, a program of arts enrichment workshops for kids & teens that is open to the community. Whether you are just starting out as an actor or have experience\, this workshop is designed to build on your skills while working with other young artists from the Lehigh Valley and beyond.\nMore information and registration details available at CharterArts.org.
