SUMMARY:Printmakers Society of the Lehigh Valley exhibition\, "Regional Collective Impressions"
DESCRIPTION:The Printmakers Society of the Lehigh Valley will be exhibiting a members exhibition “Regional Collective Impressions” at the Bethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery from April 6 to May 16\, 2025.  There will be an opening reception on Sunday\, April 6 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.  The Rotunda Gallery is located at 10 E. Church Street.  Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. \nThe exhibition will showcase images created using a variety of techniques and materials.  Examples of traditional fine art printmaking  methodologies are interspersed with prints that have been created using experimental methods and materials still within the context of printmaking.   \nThe Printmakers Society of the Lehigh Valley was founded in 2012 by then retired Professor Richard Redd\, former head of the Department of Art at Lehigh University and noted printmaker.  To quote Richard Redd on that occasion: “Many artists make prints in various media as a secondary creative activity to painting\, sculpture\, photography\, etc.  For other artists\, making prints is the main event\, the center ring in their creative circus.” \nThis exhibit brings together printmakers  to show a diversity of media and styles:  the spontaneity of a monotype\, or the many hours of working on a metal plate dipped in an acid bath\, or perhaps a block of linoleum cut with chisels.  Offering a intriguing and fresh look at printmaking with a continuing desire to celebrate and promote the art form and encourage a love and understanding of the various types of fine art prints being created today by artists in the Lehigh Valley. \nFor more information check out the PSLV website at www.printmakerssocietylv.com or on Facebook and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/printmakerssocietylv/ \nThe exhibition is sponsored by the Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission (www.bfac-lv.org) and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. \nEVENT CALENDAR:  \nBethlehem Town Hall Rotunda Gallery \n10 E. SUMMARY:Art in Dialogue: Street Art and Visual Poetry with Dede Bandaid and Nitzan Mintz
DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with the Philip and Muriel Berman Center for Jewish Studies\, the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures\, and Lehigh University Art Galleries\nJoin us for a lecture that explores the intersection of art and activism. The artists will discuss their “Artivism” – activism through art – sharing their journey of creating work that addresses humanitarian causes and societal challenges. They will delve into their techniques for siting and installing their works in public spaces\, offering insights into how their artistic practices engage with and transform urban environments. \n  \n  \n\n\nkidnapped.jpeg\n\n\n\n  \nAbout the Artists:\nDede Bandaid is a multidisciplinary urban artist based in New York and Tel Aviv. His work\, spanning installations\, assemblages\, painting\, and collage\, uses public spaces to communicate messages that confront social issues\, post-trauma\, and inequities.\nNitzan Mintz is a visual poet whose site-specific works fuse language with visual art. Her text-based pieces\, created for specific urban locations\, challenge viewers to engage with poetry in new and profound ways. \nAs partners in both life and practice\, Dede and Nitzan draw inspiration from the vibrant pulse and constant flux of urban spaces. Together\, they aim to activate overlooked areas\, creating thought-provoking works that empower communities\, address decay\, and foster connection. SUMMARY:Young Choreographers in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Senior dance students will be showcasing their choreography skills in the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) Young Choreographers in Concert taking place April 4 & 5\, 2025.\nThis annual concert is the culminating event\, or final exam\, for the Senior Dance Composition course. Each senior student creates original choreography that is cohesively inspired by a theme of their choosing and sets their work on their peers. This year’s performance features thirty choreographers and more than 100 dancers.\nIn this year’s concert\, the students’ choreography features a wide range of themes including how seasons impact our mood\, how addiction can affect a family dynamic and the emotional turmoil caused by war.\nConcert co-director\, Amy Berry says\, “Young Choreographers in Concert provides students with an extraordinary opportunity to explore and cultivate their creative potential. Throughout this artistic journey\, students have the chance to immerse themselves in the full choreographic process from the initial spark of an idea to the final performance on stage. This journey allows choreographers to express their emotions while the dancers showcase their authentic talent and bring the thematic vision to life.’\nEvening performances April 4 & 5 at 7 PM\, matinee performance April 5 at 2 PM.  Tickets are $7-$12  and are available for purchase at CharterArts.org.\nThe Charter Arts Dance Department provides students with a comprehensive and quality dance education in an environment that nurtures the talent of each individual.
