SUMMARY:Slow Art Day 2025
DESCRIPTION:Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art. \nOn April 05\, 2025\, LUAG\, along with 128 museums and organizations across the world\, from the United States to Germany\, Zambia\, China\, Brazil\, France\, El Salvador\, Britain\, Ukraine\, and many other countries\, will invite people in their communities to hit the pause button. Visitors will gather inside virtual spaces to take part in international Slow Art Day and slow down as they look at art. \nStop by LUAG for self-guided activites and opportunities to spend time with great works of art.  The average person looks at a painting for fifteen to thirty seconds\, but on Slow Art Day\, we urge visitors to spend 5 to 10 minutes closely examining a work of art – or longer if the work captivates and inspires them. \nWhy slow? When people look slowly at a piece of art they make discoveries. The most important discovery they make is that they can see and experience art without an expert (or expertise). And that’s an exciting discovery. It unlocks passion and creativity and helps to create more art lovers. Visit the Slow Art Day website for more programs and information. \nRead more about LUAG’s Slow Art Day 2023 here. \n  \nIf you require assistance to fill out this form or prefer to share your registration information via email or phone\, please email ejs421@lehigh.edu or call 610-758-6882. Questions\, concerns\, and any accessibility needs can also be directed to Elise at ejs421@lehigh.edu or call 610-758-6882. \n  \nFollow us on social media @LUArtGalleries for daily inspiration and resources to slow down and cultivate your curiosity through exploring great works of art. \n  \nImage from 2023 Slow Art Day taught by Teaching Artist Dr. Kristin Baxter in the Gateway to Himalayan Art Exhibition.

SUMMARY:Young Choreographers in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Senior dance students will be showcasing their choreography skills in the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts (Charter Arts) Young Choreographers in Concert taking place April 4 & 5\, 2025. \nThis annual concert is the culminating event\, or final exam\, for the Senior Dance Composition course. Each senior student creates original choreography that is cohesively inspired by a theme of their choosing and sets their work on their peers. This year’s performance features thirty choreographers and more than 100 dancers. \nIn this year’s concert\, the students’ choreography features a wide range of themes including how seasons impact our mood\, how addiction can affect a family dynamic and the emotional turmoil caused by war. \nConcert co-director\, Amy Berry says\, “Young Choreographers in Concert provides students with an extraordinary opportunity to explore and cultivate their creative potential. Throughout this artistic journey\, students have the chance to immerse themselves in the full choreographic process from the initial spark of an idea to the final performance on stage. This journey allows choreographers to express their emotions while the dancers showcase their authentic talent and bring the thematic vision to life.’ \nEvening performances April 4 & 5 at 7 PM\, matinee performance April 5 at 2 PM.  Tickets are $7-$12  and are available for purchase at CharterArts.org. \nThe Charter Arts Dance Department provides students with a comprehensive and quality dance education in an environment that nurtures the talent of each individual. Students engage in an array of technique classes\, improvisation\, composition and dance history classes.  Dance majors also have numerous performing opportunities throughout the year\, both in school and in the community. \nABOUT THE LEHIGH VALLEY CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS (Charter Arts): \nCharter Arts is an audition-based public charter school that provides a comprehensive curriculum for high school students\, grades 9-12\, who have a dedicated passion for the creative or performing arts.   Students major in one of seven artistic areas: dance\, instrumental music\, literary arts\, production arts\, theatre\, visual arts\, or vocal music. \nCharter Arts’ rigorous curriculum fosters both academic and artistic excellence for its students. The school’s impressive Future Ready PA Index ranking\, Advanced Placement (AP) exam statistics\, Keystone Exam statistics\, SAT scores\, prestigious artistic accolades\, and graduation rate\, are testaments to the outstanding education that Charter Arts provides. \nRecently\, Charter Arts was ranked #1 Best Charter High School in PA and #1 Best Public High School Teachers in PA on Niche’s 2025 Best Schools in America Rankings.  In addition\, Charter Arts was one of only four Lehigh Valley schools to be ranked in the Top 100 Public High Schools in PA on U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Schools in America. \nTo learn more about Charter Arts\, prospective students and their families are encouraged to attend an upcoming Virtual Information Session.
